何か問題が発生して、たいていの場合、まず真っ先に呼ばれるのは「便利屋」であって、問題がそこで解決しても、そこから「信頼」は生まれない。問題が煮詰まって、「便利屋」には解決できない状況になって、今度はたいてい、「信頼できる人」が呼ばれる。信頼できる人が問題を解決しても、もしかしたら問題を解決できなくても、その人に対する信頼は高まって、一方で、「使えない便利屋」は舌打ちされる。

内面の「まじめさ」は、信頼の役にはたたない。

信頼は、「相手の選択肢が枯れた状況で、問題の解決を提供する」ことで生まれ、相手の選択肢が枯れ続けている限りにおいて、信頼は勝手に大きくなっていく。「問題を解決すること」それ自体は、信頼については、たいていの場合どうでもいい。
